My week with Lara
This time last year, very few people would have known who Lara Mullen was, but so fast-tracked has her rise to fame been that she quickly became one of the most popular catwalk models of the Autun/Winter 2012 season.
To my surprise I learnt that I was in fact going to be spending a week with her doing a fashion brands campaign. I don’t normally feel the need to talk that much about models but in my opinion Lara will be the next top model!
Lara was unknowingly spotted when she unknowingly asked Premier Model’s Director of Scouting to take a photograph of her and a friend at a gig last summer. She was snapped up immediately for numerous New York shows and within 4 weeks of her discovery was booked to walk exclusively for Milan-based power house Prada.
“She has great personality which is so important” stated Vogue fashion bookings editor Rosie Vogel“She has that real British-ness to her look. She’s not exotic looking like some of the Russian girls or the Brazilian bombshells – but that is her appeal. She’s very cool.”
As well as starring in campaigns for Topshop and Maje, Mullen has appeared on the cover of both Dazed and Confused and I-D Magazine. Having walked in over 35 shows in London and New York, she has also opened for both the Unique and Mulberry shows on British soil.
